Description:
Borton was contracted to construct three (3) slipformed silos consisting of one (1) 22,000-ton silo and one (1) 9,000-ton silo and one (1) 460-ton silo. Approximately 6,000 cubic yards of concrete and 686 tons of rebar were used in the main slabs of the three silos. The 22,000-ton silos in 90’-2” in diameter by 130’-4” high; the 9,000-ton silo is 52’-5” in diameter by 156’-6” high; and the 450-ton silo is 22’-11” in diameter by 63’-3” high. Not pictured are a new concrete crusher building which was built into the side of the mountain and coal silo built next to the preheater tower.
